Debby Newslow is president of D. L. Newslow & Associates, Inc. (celebrating its 20th year in business in 2017) located in Orlando, Florida. In addition to being a published author (The ISO 9000 Quality System: Applications in Food and Technology and Food Safety Management Programs – Applications, Best Practices and Compliance, chapters in the Food Safety Compendium and the Encyclopedia of Food Safety; Newslow has frequently contributed key topic focused articles to such informational magazines as Food Safety Tech. She has many years of combined industry, third-party auditing, consulting and training experience focusing on management systems (ISO) and food safety programs (GFSI). Newslow has won numerous awards throughout her career including the 2013 NSF Food Safety Leadership Award for Training. She is lead instructor for the FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food, FSPCA Preventive Controls for Animal Food and for FSMA Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP). Newslow is also an IRCA Certified QA & Food Safety Lead Assessor (ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000), an American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Auditor, Certified HACCP Auditor and Certified Quality Manager. Newslow is a native Bostonian and former resident of Cape Cod. Although she left the northeast to become a UF Gator graduating with a food science degree; along with her love for animals, the Red Sox and the “ocean” remain her passions.
Robert E. Brackett, Ph.D. is vice president of the Illinois Institute of Technology and director of the Institute for Food Safety and Health. Armand Paradis is director of business development at the Institute for Food Safety and Health. After joining NCFST in July 2007, he was responsible for raising the industry membership base from nearly 30 companies to its current level of more than 70 members. His main role is connecting industry members’ strategic R&D needs to the Institute’s broad collaborative science programs, task forces, and consortiums as well as providing them the means for proprietary research contracts within IFSH and IIT. With nearly 30 years of food industry experience, he has worked in the field of product development and food processing for multinational corporations such as Unilever, PepsiCo, and Praxair. Prior to joining IIT, he served more than 15 years as an industry member delegate on several NCFST working groups.
Paradis received his bachelor degree in biology from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, an M.S. in food science and nutrition from the University of Massachusetts, and his M.S in food engineering also from the University of Massachusetts.
He has been active in professional organizations such as the American Oil Chemist’s Society, Institute of Food Technology, the International Association for Food Protection, and The Society of Research Administrators International.
