Women in Food Safety (WIFS) is a nonprofit community dedicated to providing a networking platform for women’s advancement in the food safety industry. Since its founding in 2020, WIFS has connected professionals across the globe through networking, leadership development, and advocacy initiatives, fostering an inclusive culture that elevates the voices of women in food safety and creates a pipeline for outstanding future women leaders.
FoodNet has reduced surveillance to just two pathogens: salmonella and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). The CDC said “Funding has not kept pace with the resources required to maintain the continuation of FoodNet surveillance for all eight pathogens.” The change wasn’t previously been made public.
